SPAM

1 Conversation

SPAM is, allegedly, a meat product of some kind, processed and tinned for the culinary satisfaction of the unwashed (often quite literally) masses and sold in supermarkets, shoppes, and perhaps now even vending machines around the world. It has also been known to fetch upwards of a quarter of a million pounds in certain third world bodegas, and was rumoured to have once nearly brought Ebay.com to a standstill when bidding opened on a can signed by Frank Lloyd Wright himself. SPAM is a registered trademark of Hormel Foods, who are rather touchy about that sort of thing nowadays, and, as such, might make find this entry legally unwise and sic their lawyers (on permanent retainer) on the Guide. They have, after all, been known to sue the Muppets... But no matter. The public has the right to know (or so goes our present theory). SPAM is perhaps best known for its prominence in a sketch performed by Monty Python's Flying Circus, wherein the word "Spam" is repeated by the waitress and a chorus of Vikings in the
Green Midget Cafe. Lovely SPAM, wonderful SPAM...et cetera, et cetera, ad naseum. Because of this repetition, "spamming" now refers to unsolicited e-mail, unwanted mass messages that drown out all others. Hormel seems okay with this. The Muppet thing...well, not so much.
