The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and Pentagon in the USA on September 11th 2001 makes this chapter probably the most curious one! Is there a change that democracy and Islam can coexist? In the conservative thinking of western scholars, this is not possible because Islam is in its nature undemocratic. It is possible to agree partially on this and looking for democratic values within the Islamic culture. The origins of Islam Politics lay in the desert culture of the Arabs. To survive in a desert a group has to rely on the objections of one strong leader, discussing every issue in a democratic way costs valuable time needed to seek for water and shelter......
