Odin was the leader of the Aesir gods. It was he and his brothers that created the world.Odin was called by many diffarent names, e.g. Woden, Allfather, the Hooded One, High one, Ygg, Bolverk (evil doer) and Grimnir. He wasn't god over one particular area though he is often though to be god of war, wisdom and poetry.
He had two great halls, the famous one called Vallhalla (where those who died in battle, the Einheriar, feast for all eternity) and a lesser well know one called Gladsheim Valaskjalf. In Gladsheim Valaskjalf Odin had his high seat called Hlidskialf and when he sat on it he could se all the world.
Two ravens, one called Hugin (Thought) and one called Munin (memory) belonged to Odin. Each morning they would go out into the world and at night they would return to Odin's shoulder and wisper the doings of the world into his ears. Odin also had a eight legged horse called Sleipner who could travel twice as fast as any other horse, be it over land, through air or water.
Odin was very wise and is often depicted with a long white beard (to show his age and wisdom) and a large hat to hide the fact that he only had one eye. He gave his other eye so that he could drink from the well of wisdom. He also gained knowledge by hanging from the world tree Yggdrasil. He hung for nine days and nine nights pierced by his own spear but he learned nine powerfull songs and eighteen runes.
Odin also had many impressive trinkets and weapons, for example the spear Gungnir which would always hit its target and the ring Draupnir from which fell eight new rings every nine nights.
When the end of the world comes at Ragnarok Odin will be killed by the wolf Fenrir.
