How can anything that ties up 30 minutes of your life and ultimately leads to a higher susceptability to advertising be considered helpful?

And after working an 8-to-10 hour day, the last thing you want to do is waste 30 minutes of your valuable evening free time! While sympathising with those on the other end 'only doing their job', I tend to adopt the polite but firm response: 'Sorry, I'm not interested', then put down the phone.

Me too, they are a complete waste of time.
Some of my friends do telesurveying, one of them got no surveys at all done on their first day...
