A Conversation for World's Most Beautiful Buildings

Sculpture as Architecture

Post 1

A few years back, the city of Houston (Texas, USA) sponsored a sculpture exhibit in a park adjacent to a main street (Allen Parkway). The sculptor(s?) built some "houses" out of tree limbs, basically by sort of winding them together - I think the theme was "birdhouses", somehow. But they were full sized, some even two stories, and a visitor could walk through. So I did, and took some pictures. They did sort of lean in strange directions, sometimes more than one direction. I don't think the see-thru walls and ceilings would have stopped much rain, but it was a great exhibit, I take my hat off to both the artists and the city.

ahhhh... surely these artists were inspired by buildings in canberra where this is the norm (see my earlier thread on canberra)

Could be, Canberra sounds like an interesting place. My wife recently spent several weeks in Australia, mostly birdwatching. I think she missed Canberra, sounds like she should try to make it next time.
