Sharing a Room...
...you might find you have to share a room (quite likely at Durham). This can be quite good, or a nightmare, or anywhere in between. The first thing to note is that they are likely to pay the bare minimum of attention to the room allocation form, because they will assume you are lying. Sad but apparently true. The only way I've heard of to garantee not sharing a room is to say that you are gay, because, if you're a boy, say, they obviously can't put you in a room with another bloke, and society prevents them making you share with a girl.
A plus point about sharing a room initially though is that you have someone to socialise with right at the beginning. You'll probably find initially that you spend time with people in your corridor the most...

Fresher's Fair...
...don't part up with any money to any society unless you're *sure*. Remeber you will need to fit studying in somewhere, although on the plus point most degrees don't take into acount first year scores for your final class.

Whatever happens, it probably won't be in the least like you expect, and everyone else will be in the same boat and eager to make new friends too.... enjoy smiley - smiley
