Basically a big Fruit Salad chew on a stick, these were doled out by my first primary school teacher, Mrs Kennedy, for good work. The trick was to clamp down on the lolly bit, then rotate the stick untill it pulled free. You then had a very tightly rolled piece of paper that could be unfurled and used for writing secret messages, usually 'Help! My teeth ar stuck together!'

I never understood drumstick lollies, I found the paper used to disintegrate in my mouth, and hide inside the lolly itself.
