A Conversation for Favourite Childhood Sweets and Candy
Lovehearts

I really liked them as a child, I used to get them from the papershop at the end of the road. However, at the beginning of this year I discovered that they sell them in the local supermarket, and also in the student union shop, so I'm obsessed
Unfortunately this is now bordering on an obsession... (as witnesses my uni homepage at the moment which alas I cannot post a link to here... but I will on my personal space in just a minute)
So,

Lovehearts are.... fizzy sweets. You can suck them but they're not boiled, they're brittle and powdery, not chewy. But the important thing about them is that they each have a couple of words on, like 'be mine', 'ever yours ', 'glad eye', 'marry me' or, more recently 'email me', 'fax me' and slightly worryingly 'website' ... There was an insulting equivalent sweet for a bit, Jibes they may have been called, but I've not seen any of them around in ages.
Fond moments: now that'd be telling
Still available: You can get them in Kwick Save, the durham student union shop, small packs in the woolworths pick'n'mix... those are all the places I've identified so far...

I wonder if they've changed the messages to suit the attitudes of today's kids? Do they now say things like "YO, BITCH" or "I'M PREGNANT"?

Peta bought her child a pack and they have things like 'Email me' and 'Fax Me'.
The lost innocence of childhood....

Well, they do have ones with U.R.O.K
And I never quite get 'glad eyes'
Joanna, mildly worried by the fact that she never sees a loveheart message she's not had before
Key: Complain about this post
