As well as Orion Harriers, Epping Forest is home to Loughton Athletic Club;

It is very appropriate that two clubs indulging in cross country should be mentioned, because Epping Forest was the venue for the first English National Cross Country Championship in 1876; unfortunately, the entire field of 32 runners got lost and the race was declared void.
