Foot & Mouth Precautions in Epping Forest
Sue Started conversation Apr 16, 2001
For the protection of the wild deer and farmers livestock, the Corporation of London has closed the area of Epping Forest North and East of the Wakes Arms roundabout (Epping, Theydon Bois, Upshire, Waltham Abbey) to all public access. All public access to buffer lands has been suspended, all public footpaths closed by Essex County Council.
The southern area of the forest is open to public access (Chingford, Loughton and all London areas) although cyclists and horseriders have been asked to stay away because of the greater distances they cover.
Further details are available at the Information centre in High Beech.
I'll put updates on here as the situation changes, and hopefully improves.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
