I believe, I know how the Paul McCartney death hoax originated.

In 1966, a Paul McCartney in Yorkshire, UK was invloved in a serious car accident. This was not the musician, but rather a carpet salesman and fortunately (despite the severity of the crash) he survived and is still alive today.

Paul McCartney (the salesman) was approximately the same age as his namesake. This combined with the fact that a coach load of young people were to pay him a visit caused panic in the hospital where he was recovering.

Infact, upon hearing of his admittance, the sister on the ward came running to his bedside exclaiming 'Thank God it's not you !'.

I hear you ask, what evidence do I have to back this up ? Well, the Paul McCartney I refer to was (and still is) a close personal friend of my Father.

The persons visiting him (of which my Father was one) were merely his 'drinking pals' come to pay him a visit.

I therefore conclude that we can close the lid on the Paul McCartney death theory.

Well I never - I'd not heard of this, but it is exactly the sort of thing that would happen in real life - nothing sounds more plausible.
Tell me, do you know what day this accident happened? Was it a Wednesday morning? smiley - winkeye
