As unlikely as this sounds, the following event has happened to 2 friends of mine, both trustworthy but neither knowing the other!
Late at night while drunk (an important factor) they got on a Victoria line train at Green Park heading Northbound only to fall asleep and wake up at Brixton as the last train terminated - i.e. they had both slept as the train went up to Walthamstow and returned to terminate at the southern end.
Is this an urban myth? Did one or both of them make it up? Does this happen a lot? They seem to be reliable sources of information.
