Hey Krissy I've just found a guy named Krissy Lee, but you can call him Superman for short
And 8 London's not that bad, well it better not be, I'm moving in next week as I'm fed up with commuting.
Hah...
Spartus Posted Aug 3, 1999
Krissy, if it helps at all, I didn't have much trouble with the Underground while I was there. Of course, Mr. Ant there was showing me around, but after the first few days, I did it more or less solo and was able to figure out what was going on. I think I pointed him towards the right tunnel once, in fact. Ant, refresh my memory--did I? I have a definitively vague memory of it...

Spartus Posted Aug 3, 1999
Well, hell.
Okay, well, this much is certain: We're both extremely vaguely...uhm, vague on the point. You can rest assured that it very possibly definitely might have happened at some point.

Actually, the London Underground is one of the easiest to use in the World (just IMHO!)
I've survived the Paris Metro (not too bad) and the NY Metro (OK, until you actually get into the Metro itself, and all helpful signs instantly vanish - I tend to navigate the NY Metro by pure luck most of the time!), but give me the London Underground anytime! At least they give you signs (even if you are supposed to fathom which stations are north/south/east/west bound from where you are.
Apart from that, don't fall into the common American mistake of assuming that every Londoner talks like Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins!

Living in London, and loving it (apart from today, because it's hot, humid and sweaty)
DRASTIC CHANGE!!
Classic Krissy Posted Aug 3, 1999
Oh, Lordy lordy lordy. It looks like the Underground is a moot point for me now. Long, 6 hour conversation with the significant other has drastically changed plans. It looks as if he's doing the big move to Chicago.
*grin* Men....always changing their minds.
DRASTIC CHANGE!!
CrazyOne Posted Aug 3, 1999
WHAT!? You're kidding. Hey, that's cool, it'll definitely work better if one of you moves! But somehow if it were me I think I'd rather be in London. Although I've never been to Chicago...
DRASTIC CHANGE!!
Column 8 Posted Aug 9, 1999
You must be some kind of a girl. You cannot be hard enough for the Underground. The pleasures of talking loudly about the metal plate in your head must now be foregone. Ah well.
Ugh...men
Classic Krissy Posted Aug 9, 1999
wishy washy wishy washy. We keep swerveing back and forth on this thing. I knew we would. Today he is sick of the band and wants to leave London, tomorrow he's had a great gig and couldn't imagine playing anywhere else.
*grin* So, I may or may not wind up in London in February. Definatly yes or no.
Perhaps I'll get to mutter to myself about orange Fruit Loops on the Underground yet.
Oh, help
Researcher 54514 Posted Aug 24, 1999
Having lived in London for eight years-ish, I find the best response to unwanted hands-on experiences on the tube is to grab offending appendage (hopefully it's a hand), hold it above my head and announce, 'Does this belong to anyone? I just found it on my bum/ breast/ wherever'...
Oh, help
Classic Krissy Posted Aug 24, 1999
*grin* But that "hopefully it's a hand" bit is the rub, isn't it? I'm not sure I could just reach down and grab the offending bit without making quite sure it's an empty hand.
Well, he's visited the US now, ridden the EL, been to a cubs game and all that stuff, and it looks like we're going to live in Plumstead. *laughing* hee hee hee. So much for the great "brit in the states" experiment.
*packing* Just as well, really. I would much rather live in London.
Oh, help

We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful city...!
And remember, if you need any help, you know where to come

Still living in London, and still loving it!
Oh, help

Wait a minute. You can't end the story there! Did you move? was it Plumstead England or Plumstead Chicago? Is there a Plumstead Chicago (should that be Illinois? I failed Geography)? I'm on the edge of my seat. I have to know if you moved to England and braved the Underground.
