... is superb. A DJ who doesn't think he's God - fantastic!

I used to love the trailers he did for his BFBS show in the 80s. And the show wasn't half bad, either!

And he's still the only DJ to play just whatever he wants and get away with it. The Peelenium last year was inspired, recordings from every year of the last century. This is being continued with the Pig's 78 - the playing of an old 78 from the collection.
The Pig of course is how he refers to his wife.

Pheroneous Posted Oct 24, 2000
I have listened on and off to John Peel from his days in 'The Perfumed Garden' on Radio London to his present incarnation on saturday morning Radio Four. In all that time I have rarely liked his music choice, and much enjoyed his talking bits. I have caught odd bits of him on TV, and bought the occasional 'Peel Session'. The man is in severe danger of deification. And just for being a 'nice bloke', no other virtues I can think of. If he had a web community, this would be it.
