Poem: Underneath the Willow Tree

0 Conversations

Underneath the willow tree,

Sits a little girl I knew,

With her back against the willow trunk,

Surrounded by willow leaves.

The sun shines down upon the little girl I knew,

With a book in her hand and her head in the book,

The birds around sing to the little girl I knew,

With her hair down loose and her eyes so blue.

The wind gently cools the little girl I knew,

With her dress so sweet and little feet bare,

The bright flowers bloom around the little girl I knew,

All the creatures sit next to the little girl I knew.

Until one day the little girl looked up at the sound of an aeroplane,

Until one day she jumped up at the sight of the aeroplane,

Until one day a war was declared.
