How to grow an Onion
Onions are well known to need more love and attention than most other crops. Love your onions and they will reward you. Please note: All months given here refer to the seasons in the UK; adjustment may be needed if growing your onions elsewhere.
It is possible to obtain 2000 onion plants from one oz of seed! Try these instructions for great onion growth. All helpful hints and suggestions are welcome as although I am an experienced onion user I am a relative novice at onion production
Soil preparation
The prime requirements of a good onion are;
- Rich soil
- A sunny position
- A firm root run.
The roots will go down 2ft or more if given a chance! Deep digging done well in advance is a good idea. Manure or compost would no doubt also be appreciated. Tread or roll the groud before planting out you onionlings.
Onon lovers please be patient; more work will be done on this article shortly...
