Here in Massachusetts, USA, we have a lake which the Indians called "Chargoggagoggmanchaugagoggchaubunagungamaug", which roughly translates as "English people fish on that side, we fish on this side, nobody fishes in the middle". Nowadays, most of us just call the place Webster Lake.
This lake is said to have the longest placename in the United States. Mooselookmegunticook, Maine is said to have the longest placename for a town.
