I'm not sure if you can change edited guide entries, but if you can, I think you should put in a little bit about the 'secret' messages that were in some of their records... e.g in 'the wall' - "congratulations. you have just discovered the secret message" etc...

What are these messages you talk about? I never heard of them...

have you got 'the wall' by pink floyd?
if you do, or can get your hands on a copy, listen to the track "empty spaces"
Just before the guy starts to sing, you can here this jumbled up thing in the background.
if you play it from a record, and play the record backwards, it has a 'secret' message...

OK, i'll try it... you don't have to have a record for backward playing, there are many computer programs that can reverse the track.

i've played it a couple time backwards on a record, and it sound really spooky, because you can never get the speed exact when you manually spin the record backwards...

Next week I'll be at my room where I have the song on a computer with a voice edit program, and I'll check it out. Are there any other messages? By the way, I see that it was very popular to put reverse tracks that days. The beatles had some, and a friend of mine has a disc of Frank Zappa & the Mothers in which there is an additional verse of of one of the songs. Hey, this could be a great entry for the guide- "Secret Messages on Music Albums" or something of that sort.

I only know of the backwards message in 'the wall' but I think there is a monty pyton record floating round somewhere with 'three sides' There's a bit in an guide entry somewhere about it...

Haven't you got anything better to do than sit around playing records backwards?
Secret Messages?...
Just Justin... (ACE) Posted May 5, 2003
i don't just sit there and play records backwards...
it's just a 'novelty', because you can't spin CD's backwards...
Secret Messages?...
Fire Bat Posted Jun 2, 2003
That's where the computer gets in place- spining CD's backwards...

Oh Dear.....Oh Dear....
What a sad individual you are in believing the spiel regarding secret or subliminal messages in recordings.
In the words of the Teacher in the film "The Wall" - "what's this laddie - scribblings? A secret code perhaps? No, peoms everybody; the laddie thimks himself a poet!"
And that he was and is.
Floyd do not need to plant such messages in their music - the message is there for all to hear and see! I have been a fan for 30 years. I therefore live through the times when world affairs and social upheaval, together with new found creative freedom for artists; drove the music you are now listening to.
Their music and lyrics were written about current affairs, ethical, ethnic, cultural, ecological and human rights issues.
They didn't need "secret messages"! Their music and lyrics actually spoke the message.
The whole of the Dark Side of the Moon album speaks volumes about social, political and economic issues.
Animals speaks volumes about social issues.
The wall is not only a sad indictment upon the effects of war upon an individual family, but the influences of an individual suffering the pain of growing up through his early school years and into the "Hippie" adolescent and young adult years, and the resultant phsycological effects upon his life, marriage, career, and health.
The final Cut was probably the strongest anti-war statement of it's time (written and published shortly after the fauklands - and whilst making specific reference to that conflict, delivered serious messages about WWII, and perhaps moore politically potent - to various dicatorships, genocide, and human rights abuses - remeber lines such as " cattle trucks lying in wait for the next time; clear reference to auschwitz and belsen.
My sadness is that - you are happily playing albums backwards in the vain hope of learning some "secret message"; yet you haven't really listened or understood the original message.
Open your ears - open your mind - and open your imagination. Then your hear the secret message!!!! The one that Floyd have delivered for 30 years or more, if you'd only take the time to listen.

I know the *underlying* message on most of the records of theirs (that have a message)

Well my friend, you may have been a fan for 30 years, but you don't know them yet. Open your mind. See http://echoesfaq.fika.org/html/wall.html#_What_is_said_before_Empty_Spac.

Researcher 230341, you talk like a religiouse preacher! Why do you object so much to the fact that there is be a backward-recorded message on The Wall and tht people try to listen to it? there is nothing wrong with it!
