A Conversation for The Council of Nicaea
Virgin Births
LUCIEN-Scouting the web for the out of the ordinary Started conversation Jan 4, 2001
I've run accross several references to this practice, but "The Second Messiah," by Christopher Knight and Robert Lomas is the only one that I can really think of off the top of my head. However, here is the idea in a brief form.
In the early days of the Jewish Church there were two schools, one for the boys and one for the girls. The priest were known by the names of angels. Thus, Mary the virgin was visited by the Angel Gabriel and with child was married to the respected bachealor Joseph. The children were to be returned the church on their assumption of adulthood.
I felt that this needed to be added here when I read the occurance of virgin birth over and over again. The idea that a priest can have a pure and holy birth is worth some thought.
Also I have read that the relationships ofJesus, Peter, James, and John is not quite what we would have them belief.
Check it out, the search for the truth of our past is the key to the future as Orwell says.
