Lost in Scotland

Torsås itself isn't that big, JJ. I would say that there's about 1,800 people living in Torsås. If you arrived via the E22 to the industrial sites, you didn't go through the actual village of Torsås.
Too bad that you didn't get a chance to go for a lookabout while you were there. It's a pretty nice little village.

It is strange, isn't it? What are the odds of you going on a field trip to a place which would have no significance whatsoever to anyone on H2G2 except for me? It's as if I'd gone on a trip to Berlin and accidentally stumbled into a region of the city where you've lived, or something... Funny litle world we live in.

And I totally agree with Miriam, next time you go somewhere give us some notice, so you can pass on messages from us.smiley - smiley

Promise, next time i'll tell you exactly. But in the last weeks, i had several of these Stories, the most funniest lies back just a cuple of days.

I told my friends in Germany, that a girl called Ilka gave from Germany, who was in Stockholm (and who should everybody of them know) gave me a visite. Then Tute, who seemed not to remember her, asked if it could be a girl who studies chemistry in Göttingen, for his friend Jason told him stories about this one. And then I remembered the girl who lived with me in the same flat (Ilka), who left Berlin to study chemistry in Göttingen. The same woman!

Well, the point of this story is, this Ilka was a really weired person, who could hardly manage her life and felt deep disgust about everything what was unfamiliar towards her. There are hundreds of little stories connected with her, some of them really scarry!!!

Now it comes all back to me... perhaps there are some new stories added to the old ones.

So long, Småland rules!

Wrong question! On tuesday my (ex-)Girlfriend broke up with me over the telephone. I thought we could keep on at least till Xmas (I was supposed to give her a visit then). *Pain hurts*, but I'm doing quite well- in fact nothing changes, only that I'm free and hot and my plans for the future need to be updated!

So far, yours jj

Awfully cruel to break up with somebody over the telephone...

Take care!

Allright, I'm fine!

There is one great advantage in becoming older: the pain stays the same, but it seems to last shorter! Hey, I'm in Stockholm and the city is crowded with girls!
Over the phone from Germany, but a least a letter would have been nice, perhaps there will be one later.

ok, so long jj

Hey, people.
Sorry I haven't been in here for a while. Actually, I'm not officially here now either, but if we won't tell anyone, no one will know, right?smiley - smiley

Sorry to hear about your G/F breaking up with you over the phone, JJ. That does kind of suck. On the other hand (and you have already pointed this out yourself), you're in Stockholm, you're single and the place is crowded with girls. It could have been worse.smiley - winkeye

My own situations is that I'm currently on vacation in Sweden, visiting my folks. My mom turned 50 last week, so I had to come home for the celebrations. I'll be going back to Scotland on Sunday, though, and I'll be back at work on monday. So everything will be back to normal then. Somehow, I can't really decide if I feel like I already want to go back, or if I want to stay on vacation for a while longer. I'm already getting bored of doing nothing, but I don't feel like going back already. It's a strange kind of feeling.

Anyhow, I'll catch up with you again soon.
Take care and stay safe.

Vad trevligt ad hör av dig igen! Jag trode faktiskt du gick bort, men det har du nästan!

How is ist going in Småland? Also only rain and Darkness like in S:holm? Boring to be home you said, is there really nothing to do in Torsås, I recommend reading, reading, reading, and learning German.

My situation is really not so bad, after one week as a free man, I seem to have quite a lot of opportunities. A great advantage could be, that I learned to talk to girls without being totally drunk. This seems to be a most uncommon behaviour in Sweden (the effect is impressing). Especially last thursday, I just got a kiss for beeing "sweet", hmmmmm.

Yes, lets make the best of the situation. Live now, not tomorrow or yesterday.

Breaking up over the phone? That seems a really rotton thing to do...

Mind you I did that to someone once, but (1) it was five million years ago and I was young (2) it really was over (3) he was into mind-games and doing it in person seemed very risky and (4) I am incurably honest, and couldn't have said that everything was all ok when it wasn't. Oh and he used to put on Leonard Cohen records (this shows how long ago it was!) and go to sleep... And that kinda justifies any self-defence, in my book...

Being broken up is always nasty, but distance does NOT make the heart grow fonder. If you can talk to girls in Stockholm without being drunk then who knows what that will lead to...? Locally too, which is a plus.

Have fun!

Thanks for all that feedback, I feel really fine. I think breaking up was necessary, also for me. The distance is simply to far for such a long time (4 months untill now and at least 6 more to go!). So, let's change the subject.

It stoped raining for the first time during weeks, and this morning I've seen the blue sky and a bit of the sun.

Weekend is gonna be great and next week, my schedule is full.

I also bought new shoes yesterday, but didn't menage to pay the rent, because the credite-card-computer-system at the post office was down.

Have a nice day

JJ, trust me. There is nothing at all to do around here. At least not in the Torsås area itself. To find anything remotely interesting to do, one has to go to the bigger town Kalmar about 45 kms away from here. That's where me, my siblings and possibly one of my cousins will be going tomorrow evening. Good thing that I got a whole lot of money from my relatives tonight.
They were here to "celebrate"my birthday, which isn't happening until the 16th of this month, but since I'll be back in Scotland by then, they thought they could tell me 'Happy Birthday' in advance a bit.

Anyways, what you were saying about the talking to women/girls when not drunk is true. Most guys in Sweden don't really do that, unless they know the girl really well to start with, and that can take some doing and loads of time.smiley - smiley

I find it a little strange that there hasn't been raining a whole lot in Scotland these past few weeks. Of course, I don't know what the weather's been like in Scotland since I came here, but I don't think it's been raining that much. And I always thought that Scotland was a place where it never stopped raining. Weird, I tell you.smiley - smiley

Anyways, that was probably the last check-in message from Sweden from me. Next time you'll hear from me, I'll be back in Bonnie Scotland again, hard at work, trying to reassemble the shattered remains of the desk at work... Hopefully, it won't be too bad.

See you soon again.

Weather: Today waking up, it was so strange: light shinig through my window pane, blue sky! This unbelievable beauty of a late sunny sunday morning almost scrambled my brain.

But the weekend was a fiasko:

On friday I went on a "gasque" in a cottage owned by the student union. It sounded really good. Xmas-party for us exchange students, with sauna and eating, and drinking - just relaxing, I thought. But it turned out to be "organised happiness and organised craziness" uargh! The bad feeling took over when they were telling the house rules. Nr.4: "No sex on Anna's leg! (hahaha)" Seem's that last year the party ended up like in the 70s and and almost everyone expected (wished?) it this time to happen again... Well, I took the last bus home with some others and invented sleeping new, while the rest had to squeeze in the tiny dormitory.

On Saturday I arrived 2 hours late at the theatre, what a shame...

OK: see you around jj

Lost in Scotland

Almost the weekend now. Only a few hours left. Then I can sleep.
This is the first week after vacation, and for some reason I'm really, really tired. Maybe because I've had to get up really early this week, compared to last week. And I bet that the state of the weather here doesn't really help either. It's grey, dark and rainy.

It's good, though that the week has almost come to an end. I can defeinitely use some sleep.
I have, though, been invited to a house warming party tonight, and I guess I have to go, since it's just across the street from where I live. I really don't feel like it, though.

Hi guys,

My internet hasn't been working well at all the past week which has me down to the last bit of patience I own, which isn't much....
I'm counting down the days till my vacation... 9 more to go!
I'm really looking forward to going to Holland, but I really hate the thought of having to leave again after a week.... it's a stab in the heart...
I'm majorly tired too... I haven't been sleeping well, loads of waking up in the middle of the night, and a couple of bizarre dreams... and when I say bizarre, I mean *BIZARRE*... so anyway, only 6 more days of school to go... thank God...
My mumbling is really pointless and weird, isn't it? Oh well... sleep deprivation...

Take care and have a nice week,
Miriam

Mumbling is good. If nothing else, it can share thoughts and concerns with others and that can turn out to be a good thing. If you vent troubled thoughts, you might get another perspective on them, and I just realized that I've started rambling about something that I don't know where I'm going with.

I know about the sleep depravation thing, though. I suffered from that last week. I think I remedied that over the weekend, though, as I didn't do anything but sleep and watch tv. When I think of it, I hardly ate. Well, except for a Burger King take away yesterday.

Anyhow, they've started a Lost Researcher's page at http://www.h2g2.com/A489503 if you're interested. At the momen,t it's just a list of people that has the word Lost in their names, or had the word "lost" come up on a search of their pages.
Since I recall that we had a thought a while ago to do something similar, I say that we could endorse this new page, don't you?smiley - smiley

Finally its moday again (yuhuuu!)

Bizarr dreams? delicious! I'm expert on the arrier (in having bizarr dreams and talking in my sleeps - No Joke!).

For me its also 9 more days to go - than I'm leaving for Xmas to good old Germany. Right now I should be busy, but in fact I'm writing messages.

By the way, do you think a really unbelievable story becomes more reasonable, when you attach "NO JOKE!" at the end?

see you jj

Talking in ones sleep is very common. People tell me I talk in my sleep too, but I never heard me do it, and they haven't proved it yet, so I deny it very much.smiley - smiley

I think that the believability of a story doesn't really benefit that much from the adding of the words "no joke" at the end.
But that's just my personal opinion.
