The Guide
For years I have been searching
For the meaning of this life.
What with school, and work, and family ties
All causing so much strife.
The author Douglas Adams
Gave the answer in his book.
All we had to do was listen
Then step back and take a look.
He created us a website.
Oh, so slowly it evolved.
It's now managed by the Beeb
Who have called all to be involved.
With the guide to life, the universe
And all things in between
We're so busy writing entries
There's surely some you've not seen.
They're all sitting there in Peer Review
Waiting for your helpful comment.
It won't eat into your online time –
It'll only take a moment.
And you just might find the answer
To that problem troubling you.
So do us all a favour –
It'll make you feel good too.
While you're there you might just figure
That an entry you could write.
There's no pressure, we can wait for you
And help you get it right.
It'll take your mind off troubles
And the worries of the world.
Let you lose yourself in something else...
The story will unfurl.
And the answer to the question
May indeed be forty-two.
But how you deal with that one
Is entirely up to you.
I'd ask that you keep searching
For the question while you're here,
And contribute to this website
Just in case the end is near.
