This is an altogether more tiring stroke and you can either go forwards or backwards on the back(head first or feet first)so i guess on that note its 2 strokes.Head first requires the feet to work like a frog or like that used in a sexual position depending on your point of view. The arms sort of flap through the water like a bird does when taking off.Feet first is much more relaxing-the feet do nothing and its all in the wrist action, so to speak. It is important you remain afloat for feet first so relax and stick the stomach out.
Both strokes can be used in survival situations to conserve nrg.
