Have a go at this, it's fun.
Take a saucer of milk and carefully put 2 or 3 drops of food colouring in 2 or 3 different areas of the milk, nothing much happens right? Now add one drop of your favourite brand of washing up liquid. You have your own little psychedelic colour show.
Seriously though, this is supposed to demonstrate how soap molecules affect surface tension. It's a great one to do with the children!

Plus if you float paper on to the surface the colours will transfer, instant master piece ! :o)
