Guide Dog, the GuideML Editor

1 Conversation

What's Guide Dog?

Guide Dog is a new editor for GuideML. It's a WYSIWYG editor, more or less. You don't have to worry about inserting GuideML tags yourself. Instead, you format your text using Guide Dog's built-in tools, copy it to your clipboard, and Guide Dog automagically converts the text to GuideML.

Where can I get a copy?

You can download a copy of Guide Dog from Mike Gunderloy's web site. It's on the downloads page. Guide Dog only works on Microsoft Windows. Sorry, I don't have the facilities to port it to other operating systems (yet!).

What's the legal status of Guide Dog?

Right now, Guide Dog is freeware. You're welcome to download it and use it as long as you wish. All I ask is that you tell people to download their own copy instead of passing yours around. That way they'll get the latest version.

At some point in the future, I'll probably start asking a shareware registration fee, if the tool becomes useful enough. But you'll always be able to use Guide Dog for free.

Does it work?

Well, I wrote this entry with Guide Dog 0.1.1 itself!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
