You are wrong, 42 is indeed special; it is the first non trivial even natural number that doesn't have a 5 in a sequence generated by the formula in the 3n+1 conjecture.
Also non of these sequences include 2^3 which interestingly is 8, and 8-3=5.
If you let 1 be a prime then 1*2*3*7=42 four digits missing 5, and 5 is a prime missing between 3 and 7.
And I live near the M42 (Orion Nebula) which is interesting.
