Good And Evil: The Eternal Conflict
Created | Updated Mar 16, 2002
In your journey through life, you may have noticed that some people are good,
and some are evil. You may have asked yourself:
How can a benevolent Creator permit the existence of malignant evil, and
its occasional apparent triumph, in a world which is, both sui generis and fons
et origo, the product of a pure force for Good? Is the answer to be found, as
the Albigensian heretics believe (and indeed the Manicheans and Gnostics before them),
in a fundamentally dualistic Universe, whose resolution can only be sought through
knowledge and spiritual illumination rather than in a single redemptive and/or
oblationary act by a putative divine avatar?
Or perhaps you have thought to yourself:
The bad guys seem to do best. How can I join them?
In both cases, we, of course, have the answer. Just fill in the form below,
and send it in, along with a lot of money.
Yes, I believe that current theological thinking has failed satisfactorily to
address itself to the question of the existence of evil! Please rush me
my new, unique personalised heresy by return, in return for which I promise
to adhere to its tenets, rituals and beliefs, and to send you all my money.
I am happy to have goats involved in my personalised heresy.
I warrant that I am not allergic to incense, bats' blood or rituals involving
peanuts.
I understand that my new personalised heresy may involve the risks
of burning at the stake, siege, eternal damnation and VAT.
No, I can't be bothered with heresy. I would like to join the Bad Guys.
