Michael's Game
Created | Updated Oct 12, 2006
Several years ago a young lad called Michael, who was about four years old at the time, invented a new game. The rules are very simple but the play can be made more complex depending on the age and ability of the players.
As this game is intended for very young children, certain peculiarities in the application of the rules may become apparent.
What You Will Need
- Paper
- A pencil
Rules
The rules can of course be adapted to suit the circumstance, but generally this is how the game goes:
The youngest person playing is called 'Michael'. Michael always goes first.
Player one draws two parallel lines across the paper dividing it into thirds.
These thirds are then identified as Sky, Sea, Sand (starting at the top). They could be Sky, Jungle/Forest, River.
The first player then draws something in one of the sections while the others try and guess what it is. Sometimes it may be easy to guess (a fish in the sea for instance) or it may be harder ('The top of my ice cream which fell off into the sand last summer' or 'Mummy accidentally walking across the donkey droppings').
The person who guesses correctly gains the pencil and starts drawing in a different square.
The game ends when Michael declares himself the winner - or when the page is full up. Which is often exactly the same time.
Easy, isn't it?
