h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale" is an interesting departure from his other plays. I don't think it quite qualifies as a "Deus Ex Machina", but he does have the heroine, presumed dead for a couple of decades, return as a "statue" at the end of the play (somewhat "wrinkled"). She shortly comes "back to life" to forgive the errant hero. I've read that it is the only example where Shakespeare kept his audience in the dark (to an extent, hardly a modern suspense tale). Typically, the audience knows what's going on, the fun is that the characters have no clue.
