I don't think that the titles encourage readers. The one on this entry doesn't give me any idea what the entry is about because I'd given up before I got to the bit that seems to be actually reflecting the content.

And I say that with the best of intentions.

I'll go and read it now. smiley - run

Having read through it, I can see where it comes from - you said in the entry that they are obscure geographical locations. But having something obscure isn't such a good idea in a title.

I did read both entries, but didn't really have much to say other than that. I did say I don't know much about blues.

Thats fair enough. Kerr picked up a load of typos in the other one, but otherwise seemed to like it.

Thank you anyway, and i wlill think on the title.smiley - smiley

Kerr_Avon - hunting stray apostrophes and gutting poorly parsed sentences

Okay dokey- some more typos, plus some semi-constructive comments smiley - winkeye

"Virginia and Arkansas had their own vibrant musical identities whilst still recognisably playing the Blues. "

A comma between identities and whilst wouldn't go amiss…

"Peabody made copious notes in his journal of music that he described as 'quite impossible to copy, weird in interval and strange in rhythm; peculiarly beautiful'."

What, he described his notes like that, or the music? smiley - tongueout

"Though Peabody does not record that the men referred to the Blues at any time, the lines they singing were undoubtedly embryonic Blues songs"

Referred to the style of music as the Blues?

"little john the conqeroot"

Any chance of a note as to what the Hell that means, or doesn't anyone know?

"With e release of his first record,"

The release?

Apart from that, I like the title, but I can see where Mina's coming from on the obscurity issue- I guess you've got two sides to judge, will people be intrigued by the title, and one to read more, or put off becuase they don't know what the Hell it's about?

Ok, hope I've corrected those little faults - especially the reference to 'Little John the Conqueror Root', one of my favourite blues lines of all time...

I'm going to think on the title a little. I do like it, but if it's going to put people off it wil have to go. I'm sure that my lovely sub will have something to say on the matter. smiley - biggrin
