Chocolate pudding makes a tasty dessert or a lovely treat. It's easy to make and the preparation time for this recipe is only 15 minutes.
Ingredients
- 4 level tablespoons cornstarch (cornflour)
- 2 level tablespoons cocoa
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups milk
- 3 level tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
Method
- Sift cornstarch, cocoa, and salt into a saucepan.
- Gradually add milk, stir until smooth.
- Stir in sugar.
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until the mixture starts to boil.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Pour into a serving bowl or bowls.
Notes
- Serves two.
- The pudding is similar in consistency to custard.
- It can be eaten hot or refrigerated until it has set and can be eaten cold.
- A 'skin' will form on top of the mixture as it cools, but if you don't want any skin, you can prevent it by putting clingfilm over the bowl, or by laying greaseproof paper directly onto the mixture. When the mixture sets, the skin sticks to the greaseproof paper.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with whipped cream on top.
- Crumble a Flake1 on top.
- Pour it over pears.
- Eat it with shortbread.
