You've got most of your facts right, but there is one slight innacuracy. ewtoo was actually Burble's own rewrite of the original
'Elsewhere' code, and it's that which the Surfers admin stole, made some superficial changes to, then set up as their own. So there you go

Are you sure of that? http://ewtoo.org/history.html where most of my info came from seems pretty unclear about who wrote Marble Madness, the talker that eventually became Surfers...
Are you a spod yourself? Do I know you?

I'm sure When Surfers first started, the only changes from the
original Foothills (ew-too) code were things like renaming 'squish'
to 'sneeze', just cosmetic stuff to make it slightly different. The people concerned were mostly just after somewhere where they could be admin. I think that when the Surfers code was eventually released, it was called Summink, or something like that? The ew-too code release
was the original Foothills code released by Burble.
As to who I am, well, I went to university with Burble, and currently
run Foothills ...

Would you like to post words in <./>Editorial-Feedback</.> to that effect? I can't change the article myself now, but I think it needs this revision...
I assume you are just called Jonathan then, you are on Grim's list, anyhoo... that's a banished name at Surfers, so I guess you don't go there much...

I am indeed just Jonathan, after a brief spell as another name that stuck for a while when I first used Cheeseplant's before I eventually killed it. It really is only a minor niggle, not sure I can be bothered with the effort of going through proper process and the like.

Hmmm, now I look over the history of ewtoo at ewtoo.org it IS a little vague about Marble Madness. To clear things up, yes, MM was just a copy of the Foothills/EW-Too code that was being hacked around to eventually come up AS Marble Madness, but then ... as the history says other events contrived to have it come up and stay as Surfers instead.
And, yes, at that stage the differences were pretty minor. I'd not done much C coding by then and hadn't had much time to do more than cosmetic changes and try to get to grips with how the code all hung together.

Actually I've changed my mind. The problem on ewtoo.org's history is only if you skimread it and don't keep track of what it's talking about :P. Read the entire thing and it's completely clear that MM was that copy of Foothills code.

Although re-reading the version here, it's STILL not clear about MM. Really I'd suggest it better to edit down the version here to just link to the ewtoo.org version. I did go to some pains to ensure THAT version was accurate.
