I work for a video company and this morning I was making VHS copies of the original master BetaSPs from the 1998 and 1999 JavaOne confrences. As I was changing tapes I noticed that Douglas Adams was one of the key speakers. What an excellent surprise. The stories he told were delightful and his ideas on information theory very inspirational.
He mentioned very briefly this H2G2 project which he had just started at the time. I'm excited that it still exists and look forward to being a part of it.

I was looking to see if there was video of this keynote address today which bought me here to your post. I went into my old papers and found my notes from his keynote talk. At the time (1999) I had just finished reading the "More than Complete Hitchhiker's Guide" and was excited that he come to the conference and would have brought the book for him to sign if I had known he was coming. The story he told about the biscuits was great and his insight into technology was really impressive. I'm really excited about the movie coming up. Please let us know if the video of his talk will be available.
