Upgrading a very old entry

At the end of January you suggested I might be able to rework my old entry on raising children. I've been computerless in the interim but have borrowed one from my son Is Mise Duncan.
Can you tell me what I should do? The original entry was written before anything. I was shocked when someone edited it and didn't much like what happened to it, but was unable to make any alterations.
No immediate hurry as it's been waiting a long time. smiley - starsmiley - star

If you'd like to make final edits to your unedited version, I'll see what I can do to revert the text to that of your original. There may be a bit of a 'polish' - ie adding links to other h2g2 Edited Entries, which I can do afterwards, but apart from that I see no reason why we can't treat this as an Update. ie it won't have to go into Peer Review necessarily. I can just treat it as a special bit of Curating.

If there's anything I feel needs a bit more work, I'll negotiate with you. Our policy now is to ensure that the author's 'voice' is retained, rather than a blanket type of BBC house-style.

Thank you for remembering about this

Would you like to have a look at what I've changed it to.
It would be nice if I could emphasise the first line of each point somehow, but I've forgotten how to do that.smiley - starsmiley - star

That seems a bit smoother. I'm putting a link here for my own benefit. A214840

Just a few queries, the sorts of things that would be asked in Peer Review these days.

smiley - biro Do you need all the parentheses? Sometimes commas look tidier and are a lot easier on the eye. You may consider footnotes as an alternative, in places.

smiley - biro I think bullets AND numbers are unnecessary, you may wish to decide between one or another?

smiley - biro To use emphasis, you can use < b > text here < /b > - without spaces. I've added the spaces so you can see the code.

smiley - biro I'm not sure your remark about cabin crew is needed. I've no idea how you could find out the balance of male/female cabin crew? It seems really random on flights I use. I think your point about taking children with you is a good one and strong enough without the comment.

smiley - biro#13 - single parents and cakes. Would this work just as well if you put *working parents* ? Single parents who are unemployed might very well have a lot of time in order to make things at home?

smiley - biro Market Rasen and Lincoln/Monopoly. Might a footnote help people here who're not familiar with these places?

Oh, and one last thing. We use single quotes in the Edited Guide, rather than " double quotes. It's a sort of House Style and because some browsers still have problems with double quotes appearing as random symbols.

smiley - ok Good luck, and do ask if I've not made things clear.

Well, I've left in the cabin crew, because I feel somewhat strongly about it (surprisingly). But If you feel equally strongly against it, I'll delete.
I hope the other changes are what you meant. Thanks for your help.smiley - starsmiley - star
