A Conversation for 'Beatles for Sale (1964)'

"Beatles for Sale"

Post 1

retorical

As the last conversation seems to be 2.5 years ago I think the topic (like the Beatles) might be showing its age a little... Just a couple of things I'd like to mention here about this pivotal album: yes it's mostly covers, yes it was recorded by overworked artists, yet this was the first major expose of a further emotional dimension in the Beatles music, largely, one would suspect, from Lennon's own contribution, i.e. "No Reply" with its disorientated and jilted lyric, but also from McCartney, especially on "What You're Doing" and its sad rolling piano 7ths and quick fade on another disorientated piece of work.
If you're reading this and like the Beatles (still), what do you think?
