In the sci-fi book by Neil Stephenson, the female character named Y.T. (meaning Yours Truly) has a device in between her legs called a dentata. After a rather graphic sex scene, its use is revealed. As a last defense, it injects narcotics and other drugs into the unsuspecting male.
I had always wondered where this word came from and now I know. Thanks!

How so? You think you'd get it hooked into your brain too so you can feel like you're skateboarding?
Question about the book: Wasn't there a driving, moving MALL? I swear there was, but both my parents (who also read it) disagree.

Okay, it's overdue, but I'm halfway through it now. No driving mall, as near as I can find.
Very, very interesting piece of work, particularly for 1991.
I am very grateful for the recommendation.

I think it may be somtwhat later on in the novel. It's where the samuria guy finds the foriegn man who gives him a lot of important information concerning the evil bomb guy's past.
You're very welcome.
