I thought Matrix was set somewhere around 2199, i.e. 22nd century, not the 25th.

I saw the film a week ago, and I also remember it being set in 2199.
But maybe it is all a trick by the matrix to fool us?

Ah well, that sounds right. It's not a trick by the matrix to fool you, it is my dodgy memory. But honestly, good though the film is, isn't that being a little bit picky?

Well, maybe, but the article does go out of its way to specify the century (rather than just saying "in the future"), so it may as well be the right one!
