Moon is rising
The time was November 23, 1999, in the evening when the first stars appear in the skies. The place: a lonesome road somewhere between Backwater, Littleton and Nowhere. I was on the road back home from my daily work on my bicycle. The temperature was about - 5 Celsius and the fields were covered with fog.
Suddenly I noticed the moon was lifting itself over the horizon as a dark orange and perfectly round plate just in the direction I was facing. It was in part covered by naked chestnut trees standing in line in a distance. The moon appeared much bigger to me than it does when it's high in the sky. Then the moon lifted off and started to turn its colour into a lighter orange, then became golden like one would expect a pancake to look like. The stronger its light shone it made the fog above the fields appear yellowish and gave it a look like crawling smoke that reflects a fire.
After a while, the moon had reached a height that you wouldn't wish to jump off it, a wall of dark clouds approached from the West and seemed to grasp for the moon with their windy fingers.
I can't tell wheter they could manage to catch the moon because I reached my house and among all these houses, cars and lanterns the amazing lightscape vanished immediately. Did you see what happened?
Have a nice day and don't miss to hit the ground!
