Marshmallow Peeps
Created | Updated Oct 20, 2010
Marshmallow peeps are supposedly crafted after the shape of a young chicken. [I'm no art critic, but I'm fairly certain that baby chickens have legs] 'Peeps have an abrasive yellow coating that protects them from mild strain but not from punctures or crushing blows. Apparently, these are sold as confections [edible?! I doubt it...] in preparation for a religious rite called "Easter".
Some travellers may be put off by the beady, unblinking eyes of marshmallow peeps. Others may find themselves strangely attracted to them. If you are among the latter group, rest assured that even if 'Peep manufacture stops tomorrow, there will still be a global per-capita surplus on the order of 8,000:1.
