Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
The recording began in November,1966,during which the non-LP single Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane was recorded, also before the year was out,the first of the LP's tracks,When I'm 64.
In January, the Beatles began recording of In The Life Of...,quickly retitled A Day in The Life,in April the final chord being recorded.
During February, the title song was recorded,as well as Good Morning Good Morning,Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite,Fixing A Hole, and Lovely Rita.
March saw the recording of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds,Getting Better,She's Leaving Home,Within You Without You,and With A Little Help From My Friends, with April seeing the final recording, the reprise of the title track.
One of the unique features of this album is that there are practically no gaps between the songs on each side of the LP,the best known 2 being 'Billy Shears' between Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and With A Little Help From My Friends, and the cluckong chicken turning into a guitar note between Good Morning Good Morning and the reprise.
The running order of the LP is as follows:
Side One
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
With A Little Help From My Friends
Lucy In The Sjy With Diamonds
Fixing A Hole
She's Leaving Home
Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite
Side Two
