Weebles were a toy craze for young children of both sexes in the 1970's. They were egg shaped creations with a weighted base hence the advertising slogan "Weebles wobble but they don'y fall over". Because no matter how destructive the child none were able to brah the plastic egg shape to disable the self correcting mechanism.
Accessories
Along with numerous cars the accessories all had a rounded out space into which to set your Weeble. The list of adventures were multpty by the Weeble house, caravan, school, aeroplane and the like. With swings, roundabouts, baths, chairs all of these added to endless innocent fun before children had to learn to manipulate the limbs on a Sindy or Barbie or Action Man, who could quite easily fall over.
Weebles on TV
In one memorable episode of "Are you being served" the clothing department of Grace Brother's on a departmental swap end up in the toy department. In the centre of the floor instead of a manequin is a little Weeble village which Mr. Humpries starts to play with only far Mr. Lucas to start an invasion of the quietness with an Action Man. As this was one of the BBC's top rated shows at the time it show the popularity of the Weebles. However Swap Shop on saturday afternoon quite often showed the growing pains of childhood as Weebles were quite often attemped swaps for a Barbie or Action Man.
