Another one? or have they decided to keep you were you are now?

Sounds like good news anyway

I've been offered something by one of the people at my current office. It will be a switch in projects and in bosses, but same location. It was a very last minute kind of thing, because until this week he wasn't even sure he was staying here.

It was a bit of a tough call deciding between this one and the one down in Olympia, but I kept reminding myself that it's so much better to have choices than to have nothing to choose from, you know?

And I get a week off between the end of my current job and the start of the new one -- something I am massively looking forward to. smiley - biggrin Oh, and they're going to buy me a sexy new computer.

That's great news, Mikey! I'm so glad to hear it! It's especially nice that you'll get that week off in between so you can have some time for yourself to relax and recharge your batteries before starting something new.

I'm so very happy for you, and relieved to know that everything turned out all right. smiley - magic

Cool... not having to switch locations is a big plus for me - I've changed positions three times in ten years, and it's all been with the same company.

Congrats - enjoy your week off!

yeah, that's great. Now I need to find one myself, except that I don't have one already so there is no... down the hall for me.

Great that it is at the same location etc...

The economy is looking up though so I'm confident that something will come soon for me. I'm currently between semesters and I have looked in a focused way for awhile now.

I would trade a good job for school any day.

Hey, out of the 33 jobs I applied for, I was offered what -- 4 jobs altogether? 2 of which were great, and the other 2 would have paid well, but... well, let's just say they would have involved doing things that I wouldn't have been able to mention to good old Z here without him either ranting or having nightmares. smiley - winkeye Let's just lump those together into the general category of "going over to the dark side"..... But still, there were definitely jobs out there -- and all of this was in a few months time. About half the jobs I applied for are actually still processing applications, so who knows if more job offers will show up (seems like a bunch usually do, right after you start your new job).

Admittedly, I'm in a specialized field, but it's also a field which Seattle is rather... oversupplied in.

Where is that you're going to school again, dim26trav? Was it Evergreen? I can't remember.....

Looking for a job is a huge pain. I wish you luck, dim26trav. Don't get too discouraged, though, last year when I was laid off (for over a year!), I applied for 112 jobs and went on 16 interviews. I finally got my current job through a temp agency, and was lucky enough that they wanted to keep me on. Otherwise I'd probably still be looking... and my skills aren't anywhere near as specialized as Mikey's. smiley - winkeye

It is Willamette University in Salem OR. Although I've worked for almost 30 years in electronics/aerospace I've been unemployed for two years and decided to return to school to get a BA.(history because I like it)

During my trip to Arizona for the holidays I met someone who was known as "Darth Vader" at Boeing (former middle manager). I had a nice long talk with him and discovered his theory why I'm having such a time entering the management side of things. He says I'm much too valuable as a worker.

So I've lowered my sights (at least briefly) and started back looking for those techie positions that would pay the bills. My school starts back up on the 19th and I am working feverishly to avoid going back. I realy dont like the academic lifestyle, in fact I hate the idea of learning foreign languages, which has put me into a Latin class (no current speakers of latin)

I'm open to moving anywhere in the greater Northwest, Of course with this ICE storm I'm not going anywhere for a day or two.

Call me up if you know about anything you can recommend to me for at
503-364-1098 in Salem.
