So Proud and Happysad

This week my partner was awarded her organisation's lifetime achievement award, and as she is sadly not able to collect it in person, her family and me were invited to attend in her honour. The award ceremony was good - not longwinded, but long enough to pay tribute to all the winners of awards, and there was an excellent formal dinner afterwards, so it was an enjoyable event.

The best thing was the presentation, and the moving speeches about all the work D did to improve things for so many other people smiley - brave I also enjoyed having a catch up with people who I had met before, especially the family, who did really well, and I successfully networked with new people over dinner too so it was a great celebration smiley - biggrin

I'm so proud of D, and although I'm sad, I'm so pleased that I was part of her life and I'm glad to be almost certain I made her at least half as happy as she made me, and that her spending time with me didn't diminish, but enhanced her work as she had so much enthusiasm and passion to do so much...

I'm struggling to be even a bit like her in terms of energy for helping others, but every day that I go out and be myself is a tribute to her, as she encouraged me to be confident in who I am, so she would be proud of me for that. smiley - brave

Many people aren't appreciated for their work during their lifetimes. I'm happy that D got her recognition. smiley - smiley

Thank you both - wise words indeed. smiley - brave

Yes I am so thankful that I had the privilege of sharing in her life and her thoughtfulness that changed my life for the better in so many ways, and I'm so fortunate to now have so many excellent friends as a result smiley - biggrin

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Life is ... so fragile... and I don't think any of us, much care for change... when* it happens. but... change always leads to new things... sometimes they're nice new things, sometimes not... but... Its always then so hard, looking back, the what if's, what might have beens and..... - if we're lucky, we can c calm our minds enough to just remanis on the plesent and good sides of those interactions we've had with others... whatever the end consequences ma then have been. smiley - sadface Somewhere between tears and laugher lays life, I think. - getting the mix/balance of the two isn't necessarily an easy task though. smiley - cuddlesmiley - hug
