I'm doing NaNoWriMo again this year, in honour of my darling
I wasn't going to do h2g2 NaJoPoMo as well, but then I thought I can at least report on my progress in the other competition, if nothing else.
I might not have time to read other people's journals straight away, but I have bookmarked them for future enjoyment - it is fascinating to see what people think of to write about

Good luck, doing both again too, glutton for punishment!

I'm honoring NaNoWriMo in spirit by writing a short novel. I just don't think anything good can come of setting goals in terms of a number of words per day. I prefer to write whatever amount of words will give me the result I want, usually fewer words than NaNoWriMo would require.
Plus, I get to have my dear friends at H2g2 read what I write. I respect them enough to give them the best I can come up with.

One year I will have a pop at NaNoWriMo. One year. And in the meantime I will be impressed at others' efforts!

NaNoWriMo is the ideal venue for the novel I've planned, as the plan is a love story based around my relationship with my darling - I want to write it, but it is somewhat difficult, so the target of writing it in a month is like taking a sticking plaster off quickly, so it hurts but not too badly...
I'm lucky that a lot of our relationship was conducted via e-mail or messenger, so I have enjoyed looking at our first few e-mails today - I'm amazed by how far I have matured since those early days and how much we learned from each other - but it is so sad at the same time as I miss her so much...
More than 4000 words done so far, anyway, so that's not bad at all.

I've changed my mind - it's not like taking a sticking plaster off quickly... it's like sticking a plaster on a gaping wound
Looking back at how we were, and how much effort we had to put in to establishing the relationship, I love her all the more for putting up with my quirkiness, because she knew she would get the hugs and love she needed if she was patient and I got the hugs and love I didn't even know I needed until I met her
I've only done 500 words today, but my total is over 5,000 already, so that's not too bad - it doesn't matter...

Thank you deb
I think I know a bit about your story, so please don't read below if it would upset you, just know that it means a lot to me that you replied here...
Her name was Deb too, and she died this year Bittersweet indeed that our relationship is perfect because it never faded and it is now a capsule in my heart, but it would have been nice for us to have had more time together on earth...

I'm so sorry, Sasha, it must still be very raw. What I can tell you is that it does get easier over time, although it never leaves you completely. It's been 8½ years since I lost my husband, and I still say goodnight to him every night.

Thanks deb - I appreciate that It is the thing that the pain means I feel, and I don't want to stop feeling, or forget to feel, but there is a nicer feeling that I do have more often these days, that she's just behind my shoulder and I can't see her, but she's there for me and I have great memories to think of too
I slept well last night, after exhausting myself yesterday, so I feel calmer today and I didn't stress myself out at work, either, so that's better
I picked a less intense topic for today's NaNoWriMo chapter, so I managed 1,900 words, which is good. Nicholas Sparks plot indeed... I've not read any of his books, or seen any films of the books, so I can't comment on the readability of them, but my book is not necessarily any better as it is rather stream-of-consciousness at the moment

Fireworks night isn't my favourite day of the year but it has been a good crisp autumn day, and the moon was bright too so that's good, and now I'm warm indoors, and safe from loud startling fireworks.
2,000 words done as well so I'm on target and enjoying it more, as I'm not pushing myself too hard, and just enjoying happy memories
