A Rev Nick Journal: Where-ever did the year go?
Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Started conversation Sep 7, 2008
A year ago today, we were near Cardiff, Wales, sharing time with tsarina. Having already had the most wonderful 5 days with Venus. And we ask ourselves, where the has that year gone?
I have gone on a few work travels, for 2 weeks or so at a time. And there have been the usual bouts of panic, mayhem and fretting around me at work. Milady began a new job just before our travels, after 7'ish years at a very trying place. To this day, she is still loving it. But on the whole, there has been nothing really momentous happening. And yet the year has slid by ...
So friends, what really and stuff has happened to you since, say ... September 1st, 2007 to make the year pass by without realizing it?

Just as a bit of a follow-up, much of this past week has been bits of "do you remember where we were a year ago?" Sharing a day with Venus and her tribe, trudging a busy street of London and trying to convert traveller's cheques into cash, touring an old Roman castle in Essex, a walk in a nationally awarded park where Milady found herself with a new ring ... The memories, sites and stuff still seem so fresh.

You know Jim, I'm just coming on 49 and yet the many points of arthritis are making me feel well past YOUR years.
But hey, you had atleast one really big event. You went to Hull and met some of your best friends, in the flesh. THAT is pretty darned big, eh?

Catch the seconds as they fly, learn to live and know to die.
Short poem above a church clock in Cornwall, it's not mine I'm not that intelligent, clever rhymes I leave to Robyn.

"Catch the seconds as they fly, learn to live and know to die" could have been a line from "Let us gaily tread the measure" in Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance."
During the last year, I've been making every Saturday morning special by cooking a five-course meal and sampling every dish. That way, I could live on the leftovers from it the rest of the week.
Last May, my choral society gave the New England premier of Jenkins's "L'Homme arme" ["The Armed man"], with five dollars of every ticket going to a charitable group that builds specially constructed houses for wounded veterans.
About the only other exciting things that have been happening to me have been volcano-dodging in my dreams .

I must admit to being happier now in my personal life than I was a year ago, although I can't remember exactly what I was doing on that date. I'm pleased that you have such lovely events to remember, Nick.

Don't know about the exact date, but about a year ago today I was likely just learning the morning stuff, that B did the year before, which would soon include assigning homework--and being the only aide, when the year before it had been B, P (the foster grandma) and me. This year's been much easier so far! Not only do I know what I'm doing, but there's another aide, A, and we didn't have any students the first week, which means I had a chance to show A the morning stuff (we're going to switch schedules in a couple weeks, so that when I go, they'll just have to train the afternoon aide, which will be much simpler...)

I like that line, Norti.
So I guess there have been 'moments' for everyone, and the year didn't slip past completely un-noticed. Mind, mine would have been brighter if I had seen a really cooler caterpillar too. I'll just have to be satisfied with the Monarch butterflies.

Yes, but the Monarch butterflies we have in North America don't start hurricanes. That distinction goes to the British version, which migrate to Africa. They flap their wings in the Sahel, the breezes they start grow into hurricanes, and eventually everyone from Galveaton to bangor has to evacuate.

My year has gone into regaining my health and strength by the Channel. And of course getting to know a whole lot of new friends including yourself.
But it certainly has flown.
Kind regards

They can't do it all alone, though. The Britannicus Monarchus is fairly rare, so there are probably accomplices lurking in the African boondocks, just lying in wait for the chance to turn a list gust of wind into a gale by their concerted flapping. Chaos Theory is actually more like a Conspiracy Theory.

Look here you two, there is no way us Engerlish and our butterflies are going to take responsibility for starting hurricanes! I blame cows, it HAS to be their fault with all that methane they emit......it's just a hurricane waiting to happen!
Blaming our beautiful butteflies indeed!'mutters'

Well done venus,
You tell them esactly how it is.
Imagine blaming our beautiful butterflies for the hurricanes.
What confounded cheek.
It can only bwe our cows that have caused it.
Go well

NOW look what you've done, Paul !!! Are you trying to start another 'British Invasion' *
Personally, I quite liked all the pretty butterflies and buggies and little birdies in Venus' gardens.
* Mind, we could use an infusion of decent and fun music again

I didn't want to blame the cows, because then they would get mad at me, and Mad Cow Disease would start all over again.
