All the jobs that I like the look of are in London so I'm looking at the feasibility of commuting to London from Southampton.
I know it's possible, because there's hundreds of glum looking people standing around in suits on the Southampton Central platform at 7.30 every morning. But I suspect they're glum looking because they're about to attempt to negotiate a couple of hours of London rush hour trains.
However, I want to further my career, and all the vaguely interesting internet jobs are in the capital. I sometimes suspect I'm not in the best of industries, as internet jobs are rarer than Welsh-speaking dodos at the moment.
Ah well... better harrass some interviewers.

Good luck! Can't you consider renting, if not in London (far too expensive, I wouldn't waste my money, even if I had enough!), then somewhere nearer? : Although anywhere in nearby commuting distance has suffered the most severe increases in house prices and rent :- And I guess it depends on how attached you are to where you are, how many friends and the like are down there tricky, how do you feel about a few hours every morning and evening to get to and back from work; some people seem to cope better with it, and the long day it creates, and some don't like it at all, I'd never do comutting any distance, as I ain't that fond of travel anymore, though i did used to like the trains

Well... Tinkerbell is in Southampton, and has just started her course here. So I can't really leave here.
I wouldn't mind commuting if it worked. I suspect the weak point may be late trains that are too overcrowded to sit in...
I would have to see a vast improvement in pay to be able to afford commuting, let alone renting somewhere nearer London. All these problems seem to weigh against me working in London, but the trouble is, I really want to, as all the interesting jobs are there
