Just saw that picture of fords' arm. My first reaction to it was:
"WHAT THE HELL!!!" How the hell could they f**k an IV up that badly? I mean, *I* could have done a better job than that, fer crying out loud!

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

A friend of mine did biology at uni and one of the girls who was doing it was a bit ditzy... one time she missed the vein and severed a nerve!

Ku'Reshtin (Bring the beat back!)

We had to try and draw blood from each other in school (went to like pre-pre-pre medical school) and I have really difficult veins to find, and this classmate of mine had to try and get a blood sample from me, and kept missing the vein.
Being polite and quiet that I am (smiley - whistle) I lay there and quietly told her that it was just a little painful since she was moving the needle around in my arm. Then of course, our stupid teacher got the idea that the needle probably wasn't far enough into my arm and started poking my arm just onn the needle, which hurt like a smiley - bleep.

I have to say I became pretty proficient in jabbing people in the arm, though. And because I've had my fair share of people with weird veins to draw blood from working at hospitals and GP surgeries and stuff, I never complain when they take blood samples from me. I just tell them my veins like to play hide and seek and then let them get on with it.

Never get any swollen arms from it, though.
