Yesterday in a blaze of technical wizardry, i added a tag to my name. Although it wasn't very funny or clever, i thought i'd made a major breakthrough, in that i'd worked out how to do it all by myself.
All was well with the world.
When i came to log on last night however i found i'd been locked out.......my log in just kept comming up with the error message. I think i know what's happened, but i don't know how to cure it.
I have a 'hometime' internet connection for the evenings and weekend, but i also have another pay as you go, which i rarely use, that works during the day. When i updated my preferences yesterday it was on the daytime connection, and i guess this has somehow changed my hootoo settings.
I can't get into 'hometime' til 6pm, and can't change my preferences on there, cos i can't log in!
I can go on during the day ,but not in the evening.
Any suggestions....anything? .........HELP.

I couln't get onto Hootoo last night either. It didn't recognise my usual log-in or password for some reason. But when I tried this morning it seemed to have rectified itself - and here's me!
Sorry can't shed any light on your current dilemma.

(Computer wizz) Hubby says you may have a problem with your TCP/IP settings. They could be set to the wrong account. If you would like him to have a look for you the call-out fee will only be $2500!!!!!

Don't know how to help you with that problem, hadn't any difficulties with my "new" name. BTW, what's a drover?

Maz Posted Jul 24, 2003
A drover is a person who rides a horse (or,these days, a motorbike ) and drives cattle or sheep etc from one place to another.

I couldn't log in yesterday afternoon (in the US). So I emailed h2g2 support and they said there was a problem with the login verification system.

Thanks for that Emee, Teuchter said she had the same problem, so fingers crossed it was Hootoo thing rather than an Airscotia one

Laura Posted Jul 24, 2003
Probably a hootoo problem, as your login name and user name are different things, so adding a tag shouldn't affect it. My computer's set to 'remember me' so I don't need to log in, which could explain why I didn't have any trouble

i threw my box of tissues at the wall when i couldn't log in . Maybe it was someone trying to tell me to finish my assessment and stop wasting time

It was a Hootoo problem. Someone at the BBC lost all the scripts that match Username to Password so everyone who wasn't already logged in couldn't be resolved. All is ok now though
So although the breakthrough was great from an Airscotians point of view, it was the tag that brought down hootoo

I just knew i'd get the blame.
And there i was sat here thinking 'what would Kilty do in my position', so i poured myself a nice large drink, and sat there sulking
