How did you find H2G2?

How did everyone find this website?
I'd like to do a guide entry on everyone's stories.

I used to stay late a lot in the art department during my GCSEs.. and there was another girl in upper sixth form who also stayed late. Naturally those two years meant we were worlds apart, but after a good few months we ended up chatting after I complemented her painting. Then she introduced me to H2G2. I don't think I've ever met any of her online buddies. But her name was Insane Endeavor - U113604.

I think there was a thread on this somewhere.

I found it about 2 years ago . I used LD at the time, and someone I met on there sent me a link to the bbc website. I was poking about the search engine and it pulled up a hottoo entry. It was a little while before I registered though.

AK - fancy that!

I found it from the salmon of doubt... it keeps saying to contribtue or for more information, visit h2g2.com. so I did.
I waited about two weeks lurking without a name though... and once I got a sn I already knew what to do, no trouble at all.

As I recall I was doing a google search for something and an H2G2 entry.
As soon as I realized where I was, and having read Douglas's Hitchhiker's Guide I smiley - book it and came back for a look around. Been hooked ever since.

It was the fall of 1999. I had moved onto the other side of the Rocky Mountains a couple months before. I was a marching band geek, though my band days were over.

One of my marching band friends (who I had a tremendous crush on) insisted that I join the website because no one was talking to him. Of course I did it. smiley - silly

Oberon2001 (Scout)

Came to it after seeing Douglas Adams on the Big Breakfast (I think) back when it was launched (I was under a different U-number then, same name though).

in my case, by accident when I was looking at posting the the BBC's 'The Archers' messageboard. There's a FAQ somewhere, that I can't find now, that points one to h2g2 if one wants to make a particularly long or complex post. smiley - biggrin

Close, but I was just in a general Google and hadn't actualy requested anything about Douglas Adams or Hitchhikers. I believe it was just one of the entries, but I didn't realize it was a life altering experiance or I would have noted which onesmiley - biggrin
