I couldn't find a better word than torture at the time. The squirrel obviously isn't being tortured ... maybe tormented would have been better. I'm just amazed that anybody would spend that much time and effort costuming a squirrel. I guess it's about the same as making little dollhouses. *shrugs*

The best occupation I can think of to do with squirrels is to go 'orienteering' and watch their habits, for real, in the countryside.

I could do that, but then I would be wondering whether squirrels were put on Earth for our amusement, or we for theirs.

When was the last time you studied a real live squirrel?

My camera isn't working, so they chatter away at me all the time

"When was the last time you studied a real live squirrel?"
I watch them dart across the telephone wires over my neighbor's house. At work, I see them poking around in the lawn.

"When was the last time you studied a real live squirrel?"
We've got squirrels up to our armpits around this neck of the woods. I watch them chase each other and play as I eat my lunch each day. Sometimes I even share my lunch with them. Several of them come up to within a few feet of me now and then. Oh yes, make no mistake -- they're the ones who study us!

When was the last time a squirrel stood up on its haunches, looked you straight in the eye, and studied you?

Oh, and I think you're right Shea... someone definitely has a little too much time to play with the doll clothes. But still, I find the concept disgustingly CUTE! I think whoever is doing this is having fun and making a little money on the side. Just wait until the personal appearances on the late night talk shows kick in.
Don't worry. Sugar Bush's miserable, clothed life can't go on for more than another few years or so, since a gray squirrel's lifespan is ten years maximum.
All that cuteness, gone to waste!

>We've got squirrels up to our armpits around this neck of the woods.
You might want to do something with those armpits so maybe the squirrels wouldn't be so attracted to them.

I was writing about real squirrels, they don't have anything to do with armpits. I'm not making any money out of this at all. Are you?
What do 'real' squirrels have to do with money? They often look me in the eye and chatter is all I said.
Who is the "Keeper of Squirrels" ?

We are joking around, Chiki... and certainly not joking about you... I was referring to the link on the first post of this thread, which was what Shea was talking about also. Please, don't be offended! We were talking about the person who dresses Sugar Bush, the squirrel.
There is a thread about "Keepers" that's been around for just about forever. (Sorry that I don't have time at the moment to look it up for you.) Five years ago, when I first joined h2g2, I was listed as "The Keeper of the Squirrels"... that is all.

I like squirrels... not enough to dress them up, though.
My Keepers title is 'Keeper of Half full bottles of Tabasco Sauce'.

Thank you, Evangeline ... I just managed to find that old thread when I realized you'd already posted the link.
*waits some more*
ChikiSpirit is listed there too.
*waits still longer*
