I love this pastoral interlude. smiley - kisssmiley - musicalnote

I was just in the mood for looking at some deer, even though its nearly midnight.

Marvellous! You never know when a pastoral interlude is going to appear in life, but I'm glad when they do.

smiley - laugh True. We spotted those deer on a beautiful day, and it was a surprise. Glad you liked them. smiley - hug

Are deer a rare sighting in the area where you live?

smiley - laugh Not at all. In fact, they show up in the backyard after dark. smiley - rofl It's just that it's hard to catch them on film.

Fortunately, my brother-in-law is a quick-thinking driver. He stopped and backed up so I could take pics.

Zoom and lack of tripod explain the fuzzy nature of the film. smiley - winkeye

It's good that we have all of these back roads. We saw deer twice that day, and I got video both times, however fleeting. smiley - smiley

In the back yard??

That's interesting. I can't imagine deer in the back yard. Up close they must seem quite big and kind of snuffly. I wouldn't argue with the stags. Its an antler thing.

Its a great video, atmospheric. Family members being accommodating to the family artists, eh? heheh. Reverse the car! The video maker must capture this moment.

We used to see deer on Dartmoor, Devon. Haven't seen any in Brighton. Yet. smiley - rofl Scotland, many deer. I had to stop the car quite fast one time, because the daft creature decided to cross the road.

smiley - rofl This happens way too often in the US. Deer colliding with vehicles. They always say, if you see a doe run across, wait. There will be another doe and a buck behind...

It's more like, 'Hey! Get your camera out! I see something you should film!' smiley - rofl I have spotters.

We mostly see does and yearlings in the yard, quite close, at night. If you talk to them quietly, they look at you like, 'Why are you here?' and then they run off. smiley - rofl They eat the flowers at the Catholic parish office, and in our yard if we don't spray them with something peppery. And they leave droppings on the sidewalk.

Not as bad as the bear, though. smiley - laugh There will be a bear in my November story, also other wildlife...

They eat the flowers at the Catholic parish office?

How come you just write that down and it sounds so poetic?

Stop the car! The video maker needs to write. (also) smiley - rofl

Bears?? You're bringing in bears for November?

November is going to be an awful month for me. I have to read you all. hahah.Only kidding. Looking forward to it really. Sort of. A bit. smiley - kiss Is B4 doing the Hole in History project?

He is not. smiley - laugh But his story 'Into You' will still be going on in the Post. It has 17 installments, so there's a ways to go yet.

And, since we are archiving all the November stories, you can read them at your own speed. smiley - laugh I will have all the links in the Post.

I have very much enjoyed doing the research for this. Just the other day, I found a lovely book of poems written by a man who came here from Ireland as a child in 1832. He saw his first deer in the woods at the age of seven - and ran to tell his parents that he'd just seen the oddest-looking donkey, it had such skinny legs... now, isn't that a fun story?

I'll put his deer poem in the Post one week. smiley - smiley
